Daytona Beach Woman Faces Multiple Charges Following High-Impact SUV Collision and Roadside DUI Investigation

A 24-year-old Florida woman is facing numerous criminal charges after allegedly crashing an SUV into a parked vehicle with tremendous force, an incident captured by surveillance cameras and followed by a series of unusual interactions recorded on police body cameras. The collision and subsequent arrest took place in Daytona Beach, Florida, drawing attention due to the stark contrast between the severity of the wreck and the driver's casual roadside statements to law enforcement.

According to surveillance video released by the Daytona Beach Police Department, the incident began when an SUV operated by Elizabeth Boucher violently collided with an unoccupied Honda parked along the roadway. The force of the impact was so intense that the parked vehicle was forcefully propelled entirely across a residential front lawn, disappearing from the frame of the security camera recording the scene.

When law enforcement officers arrived at the crash site on August 30 to begin their inquiry, body camera footage documented Boucher offering a vastly understated version of the events. Rather than acknowledging the violent impact that displaced the parked vehicle across the yard, Boucher appeared to minimize the destruction, offering a vague explanation to the responding officers about what had just transpired.

During the initial interaction, Boucher claimed she believed she had merely struck the front light of the vehicles involved, adding that she did not fully understand what had taken place. Her characterization of the collision was quickly countered by the investigating officer, who pointed out that the impact went far beyond minor damage, emphasizing that the parked automobile had been completely displaced by the crash.

The roadside interaction grew increasingly abnormal as the officer attempted to conduct basic administrative procedures. When asked to produce a standard driver's license for identification, Boucher instead handed the officer a passport. The officer immediately corrected her, identifying the document as a passport before repeating the request for valid driving credentials.

As officers continued their evaluation of the scene, Boucher began making personal appeals to the law enforcement personnel handling the call. Body camera recordings captured her asking why the situation was escalating, telling the officers that she believed everyone involved was on friendly terms.

Boucher then attempted to explain away her impairment or the circumstances surrounding the stop by referencing an electronic smoking device. She insisted to the officers that the situation merely involved a vape that was not even functioning properly, repeatedly begging the personnel on the scene not to take her into custody or send her to jail over the matter.

Following the initial assessment of the crash dynamics and Boucher's demeanor, the lead officer formally announced a shift in the nature of the stop. The officer notified her that the encounter was no longer being treated merely as a civil traffic crash investigation, but had officially crossed over into a full-scale criminal driving under the influence investigation.

At that stage, law enforcement read Boucher her constitutional Miranda rights to ensure proper legal protocol was maintained during the criminal proceeding. The transition marked a critical procedural pivot, moving the encounter from basic accident reporting to formal criminal evidence gathering.

Officers subsequently asked Boucher to submit to standardized roadside field sobriety exercises to gauge her physical and cognitive faculties. According to the police video, Boucher explicitly refused to participate in any field sobriety testing. She also rejected an officer's formal request to submit to a chemical breath test intended to determine the presence or level of intoxicants.

Despite the escalating legal jeopardy, Boucher continued to appeal to the officers on a personal level, again referencing their supposed amicable relationship. The responding officer maintained professional boundaries, reminding her that regardless of any personal rapport, law enforcement personnel had a statutory duty and professional job to perform at the scene.

In response to the officer's statement, Boucher maintained that she was not attempting to resist law enforcement, while also expressing concern about her child. She told the officers that she simply wanted to ensure her daughter would be properly taken care of and receive everything she needed.

During the ongoing interaction on the roadside, officers took measures to address Boucher's apparent lack of physical stability. Footage captured an officer instructing her to place her weight against a vehicle in order to keep her balance and avoid falling to the ground, underscoring law enforcement's observations of her physical condition prior to formal transport.

Following the on-scene investigation, Boucher was taken into custody and formally booked on a sweeping list of offenses. The charges filed against her include driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, DUI involving damage to property or another person, battery, resisting an officer without violence, and possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription.

Following her arrest and processing in Daytona Beach, court records indicate that Boucher has formally entered a plea of not guilty to all of the charges lodged against her as the criminal case moves forward through the Florida judicial system.
